The event will include Ojārs Vācietis' poetry readings as well as poetry of young poets – winners of literary competitions dedicated to Ojārs Vācietis. Music of Latvian composers, inspired by the poetry of Vācietis, will be performed by the Latvian National Opera soloist Evija Martinsone and pianist Agnese Egliņa.
The event will be hosted by actor Jānis Kronis, composer Arturs Maskats and poet Jānis Rokpelnis.
The sculpture “Doom” (Nolemtība) (1985) by the sculptor Arta Dumpe, inspired by Vācietis' poetry collection of the same name, will be on display.
Ojārs Vācietis was one of the most famous Latvian poets during the second half of the 20th century. His work reads as eternal and many have referred to him as a prophet, living ahead of his time.
The event will take place on the 11th floor of the library, and the entry is free.
The event is organized by the National Library of Latvia in cooperation with the Ojārs Vācietis Museum and the Ojārs Vācietis Society, supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation.
