Drug dealer group detained in Rīga

Last week, State Police detained a four-person organized criminal group, which was engaged in unauthorized distribution of amphetamine in the territory of Rīga, police said April 29.

On April 23, police officers detained four persons – men born in 1968 and 1976, a woman born in 1981, and a man born in 1979 who was already in custody in another criminal case.

According to the information at the disposal of the State Police, the detained persons engaged in the sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances, communicating in the Telegram app. The organizer was in one of Latvia's prisons and coordinated the activity from there.

In total, nine searches were carried out at the addresses and cars of the detainees, resulting in the seizure of approximately 1.5 kilograms of amphetamine, various items for packaging amphetamine (electronic scales, polyethylene bags, amphetamine already packed), as well as one Volkswagen car.

One of the suspects was placed on bail and the others have non-custodial bail.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
