The annual 'Lampa' festival of conversation begins in the town of Cēsis June 30, promising two days of stimulating jaw-jaw.

In its three years of existence, the festival has become very popular and this year's festival held in the grounds of Cesis' impressive medieval castle, will be the biggest yet.

A large influx of the chattering classes is expected with special buses and even trains laid on for festival goers.

Several of the discussions and lectures will be in English. The discussions take place in and around various thematic tents dotted around the site.

If you are planning to attend in person, better take a coat and umbrella as the weather forecast is not ideal.

Among those in attendance was Saeima deputy Lolita Cigane, who told LSM about Latvians' public speaking abilities.
