Take note – story published 8 years ago

From December 16 to January 7 the Dzintaru concert hall will light up with the Christmas Festival, featuring guests from home and abroad.

The twelve concerts of the Christmas Festival will welcome local grands like Raimonds Pauls, Latvian Radio Big Band, accordionist Ksenija Sidorova and others.

The special guests of the festival will be two US Grammy awardees – the Los Angeles Guitarist Quarter and the vocal ensemble New York Voices.

Together with the aforementioned artist performances will be seen (and heard) of artists like the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO), Raimonds Ozols with a string quarter, the Rīga Dome School Boys' Choir, Gunārs Upatnieks, a contrabass player from the Berlin Philharmonic, along with the Latvian Radio choir, singer Ralfs EIlands, the National Armed Forces Orchestra, cellist Valters Pūce, the bell ensemble Primus, singer Elīna Šimkus as well as the baroque orchestra Collegium Musicum Riga.

Info about the concerts is available here (English).

Incidentally, from December 16 to December 20 the festival hall of the Jūrmala resort will be lit up not only with music but with light as well in a show designed to delight concert goers and to cast a bright spell over the time of the year when the sun is in most scarce supply.
