Four more acts culled from Eurovision contest

Latvia's search for its 2017 Eurovision entry marched on February 19 with the live semi-final of the 'Supernova' show taking place.

After two previous shows, eight contestants made it to the Sunday night show, the purpose of which was, somewhat inexplicably, simply to whittle them down to four acts in order to repeat the whole thing again in a week's time before deciding upon an actual winner -- a format which suggests Supernova is stretching its appeal to the limits of public interest.

As it turned out, the four acts who will progress to the final show were exactly the same four acts as progressed from the previous show, namely bands Triana Park and My Radiant You, plus solo acts The Ludvig and Santa Daņeļeviča.

Thus pre-Supernova favorite Linda Leen is among those shown the door at the semi-final stage.

The 100% male domination of the panel of experts giving their verdicts on the acts was maintained into its third week, so there is now only one week left to break the resident patriarchy which has been in place throughout the month-long selection process which hs passed judgement on 22 hopefuls.

If you'd like to watch the four acts still in contention for a ticket to Kyiv, you can do so on our Latvian-language sister site HERE.
