Latvia in Eurovision action tonight!

Hold on to your sequinned beanie caps, Eurovision fans, as the annual extravaganza of harmonic overstatement gets under way on the evening of May 9 with Latvia participating in the first semi-final in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Representing Latvia will be pop beat combo Triana Park, whose path to the latter stages of Eurovision can be traced in our previous coverage.

They will be performing their song 'Line' which has become the soundtrack of early spring.

And you can re-live the performance that saw them get the vote of the Latvian public in the video above.

Latvia in the semi-finals will compete against Sweden, Georgia, Australia, Albania, Belgium, Montenegro, Finland, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Armenia and Slovenia.

Under a somewhat complex voting system, those progressing to the May 13 final will be decided by both a money-making public phone vote and the decisions of national juries.

In fact, the juries have already decided who they will be voting for based on rehearsals they watched on May 8. Scores will be allocated with 50% depending upon the public and 50% on the juries. But you cannot vote for your own country of residence.

Got that?

As ever, you can follow the action via LSM's Re:Play streaming portal from 22:00 Riga time (may be subject to geo-blocking).

Anyway good luck to Triana Park.
