Massive Latvian flag to adorn left bank of River Daugava

Take note – story published 6 years ago

A monumental Latvian flag will soar 60 meters above the AB jetty in Riga. It will be finished by November this year and will serve as a present to Latvia for its upcoming centenary, the people behind the project told the press April 12.

The flag mast will be erected for private funds collected by the Latvian Flag association lead by National Alliance MP Rihards Kols. The association aims to erect similar flags across Latvia for both private and public funds.

Once the flag is completed, its ownership will be transferred to the City of Riga which will be carrying out repairs and maintenance.

It can be expected to be a towering presence in the Riga skyline as, for example, the nearby National Library is just slightly higher at 68,30 meters.

As is evident from the design photos, the flag will fly near the NOASS floating art gallery.
