Museum showcases history of photography in GIFs

Starting August 17 the Latvian Museum of Photography is showcasing the history of the art form in Moving Photography, an exhibition by Vika Eksta.

Photographer Vika Eksta used objects from the museum, usually found behind glass cases with a 'Don't touch' label, to create something new.

"This is a dainty exhibition in which I invite visitors to look at six moving photographs or animated GIFs made by interpreting the permanent exhibition of this museum," she said.

She wants to attract more visitors to the permanent exhibition and add a modern touch to the chronologically sorted objects that illustrate the history of photography in Latvia.

It will be on show until November.
