Prose readings mark week of literary liaisons

December 6 marks the start of the annual Prose Readings 2016 festival of the written word (performed in spoken form) giving way to a week of authors performing their newest works with both local writers and authors from Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia, Finland, Malta and more presenting their works.

The opening eve on Tuesday features Māra Zālīte, Māris Bērziņš, Dace Rukšāne, Ilmārs Šlāpins, Juris Zvirgzdiņš and Gundega Repše.

Baltic authors will be represented on Friday at 7 p.m. with guest authors from Estonia and Lithuania joining in.

On Saturday at 3 p.m. an English-language discussion titled "A message to the writers of the future" will take place with Finnish and Estonian authors accompanied by story writer Inga Žolude.

While guests from Finland, Malta, and Slovenia will be present at the foreign authors' evening at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
