Thousands of people, led by Latvia’s prominent government leaders, state officials and very important guests from the neighboring Baltic countries gathered at the gate to Old Town Rīga, the Freedom Monument Square, to witness a grand concert event marking 25 years since the Baltic Way human chain Saturday evening.

Latvian Television (LTV) Channel 1 broadcast the event live and offers it here too for your viewing pleasure.

In time for the concert, a number of bicyclists from the memorial Baltic Way ride arrived in the square to hear the grand program based on the idea of Baltic unity.

The core of the program was performed by the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and State Academic Choir Latvija under conductors Maris Sirmais, Paula Megi and Modests Pitrens and with vocalists Daumants Kalnins, Ieva Prudnikovaite and Jeronimus Milus, the rock ensemble ‘Remix’, featuring songs by Latvian composers Raimonds Pauls, Martins Brauns, Zigmars Liepins, Uldis Marhilevics, Boriss Rezniks as well as Lithuanians Roks Radzevicius, Arvidas Malcis and Estonians Villem Kap and Tonis Magi.

The scenography, lighting design and video projections were created by Maris Kalve, Martins Feldmanis and Didzis Jaunzems.
