Latvian tennis players Anastasija Sevastova and Jeļena Ostapenko have both improved their standings in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, with Ostapenko ranked 12th after making it into the quarterfinals in Wimbledon 2017, repeating her career high.

Ostapenko was previously ranked 13th and lost to Venus Williams in the quarter finals, disposing of several top-class players on the way and proving competitive against an opponent as formidable on grass as Williams.

While Sevastova, who made it into the second round at the Wimbledon Open, is currently ranked 17 (previously WTA 19).

Ernests Gulbis made it into the third round after defeating Juan Martín del Potro but eventually succumbed to Novak Djokovic. This has come after a slump and injuries with him now being ranked 384 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, up 245 spots.
