In the presser, Ostapenko's mother Jeļena Jakovļeva, who doubles as her coach, said about €0.5m was invested into her daughter's career during the course of several years.

While the champion herself said she plans on resting rather than celebrating.

"I have several free days," she said. She is to return to the court on Monday, preparing for her slated appearance at the Wimbledon grass court championships in the UK starting on July 3.

She also revealed she has a special toy that brings her luck and that she had listened to a single song throughout the WTA tournament but did not reveal its name.

As some still are confused about her name, she said she won't be changing it to Aļona any time soon.

"I'll be staying Jeļena, but call me Aļona," she said.
