Industrial output up in June

Compared to June 2015, in June 2016 Latvia's industrial production output increased by 7.9% (calendar adjusted data at constant prices).

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that production output in manufacturing rose by 8.2%, in electricity and gas supply by 9.6%, while in mining and quarrying there was a drop of 3.2%.

The most notable increase was recorded in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (of 43.4%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (16.8%), manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (15.5%), and manufacture of wood and of wood products (12%).

Compared to May 2016, in June 2016 industrial production output rose by 0.7 % (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices), of which in manufacturing by 0.3 %, in electricity and gas supply by 3.8 %, and in mining and quarrying by 0.4 %.

Quarter-over-quarter change

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, in the 2nd quarter of 2016 industrial production output increased by 4.4% (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices), of which manufacturing grew by 4.6%, electricity and gas supply by 4.2%, while in mining and quarrying there was a decline of 4.7 %.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2016, in the 2nd quarter of 2016 industrial production output grew by 3.2% (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices), of which in manufacturing by 3.8%, in electricity and gas supply by 2%, whereas in mining and quarrying there was a drop of 1.9 %.
