Ventspils ponders buying up to 10 electric buses

Take note – story published 7 years ago

The port city of Ventspils could buy up to ten electric buses with support from EU funds, Kurzeme TV journalist Artūrs Andžs told Latvian Radio Tuesday.

He said that at the moment an electric bus is being tested in traffic and is available for public use.

While their use is still being pondered, it's clear already that electric buses are less noisier than their diesel equivalents.

Each of these buses cost more than €0.5m. However if the municipality does decided to buy the buses, about 85% of the project could be covered with money from EU funds.

The Ventspils reiss municipal transport company could opt to buy from seven to ten buses by 2020.
