Surf was up near Ventspils June 6 with US forces putting on a show of their capabilities that included the USS Arlington, a B-52 bomber, hovercraft and amphibious landing vehicles.

Meanwhile the Russian state-controlled news agency RIA Novosti claimed a Russian air force plane had intercepted the B-52 over neutral waters in the Baltic Sea as it arrived from its base in the United Kingdom.
