100 oak trees are to be planted at various locations around Latvia's borders as celebrations of the centenary of Latvia's founding officially get under way.

The actual centenary will be on November 18 next year.
Meanwhile the so-called 'White Tablecloth Day' initiative launched last year makes a return with people in all communities inviting each other to sit around a table and exchange ideas - preferably with some tasty food to hand as well.
