"As a biologist, I would suggest making only natural soap." That's what Latvia's President Raimonds Vējonis said Thursday unveiling a factory of the skincare products maker Madara Cosmetics.

The €3.5m factory has added 80 jobs to the Mārupe region near Rīga.

Madara Cosmetics started ten years ago as a home soap making business and will continue making it inside the new 2,700 square-meter manufacturing premises.

The company's skincare products are sold in 30 countries. They are made in close cooperation with University of Latvia scientists.

In the first half of 2016 Madara Cosmetics' turnover was €2.5m. This year it was named among the top 10 most-admired companies.
