Slight thaw to be followed by blustery winds, snow

This week will see snow melt in parts of Latvia but Latvia's east will still be freezing. Snowstorms are forecast for the latter half of the week as well, reported LSM's weather man Toms Bricis.

The first half of the week will see little precipitation and the sun will shine on Tuesday and Wednesday. A slight thaw is expected in Kurzeme and parts of Vidzeme on Monday and Tuesday but it'll become colder starting Tuesday evening. 

On Wednesday night the freeze will return across the country with temperatures plunging to -7..-12C, and -2..-6C in the coastal regions. During daytime southern and southeastern winds will blow at blustery speeds, reaching 20-23 m/s.

The latter half of the week will be snowy and sometimes rainy. Temperatures are forecast to be at around 0..+4 both at daytime and at night on the coast but +1..-4C at the rest of the country and as low as -5..-10C in the east.

Thursday and Friday will see snow and wet snow with snowstorms across the country and rain on the coast. There'll be much less snow on Saturday and Sunday.
