After a weekend of glorious sunshine across the whole of Latvia, the working week gets under way in less spectacular fashion with the promise of cooler temperatures at the start of June, according to LSM weather-watcher Toms Bricis.

Early Monday morning thunder could be heard in Kurzeme and Vidzeme regions, accompanies by heavy rain showers, though temperatures will remain comfortable at +13 to +18 C on Monday.

Rain showers will continue to crop up throughout the day, moving gradually eastwards into Latgale region.

In coastal areas, westerly winds will swing around to come from the northwest and could become gusty with wind speeds of 10-15 meters per second. However, coastal areas will also get the best of the temperatures, with parts of the Kurzeme coastline expected to touch +23 C.

Looking further ahead, the early days of June are expected to see temperatures fall. The second half of the week will be cool with daytime temperatures in the range of +11 to +18 C. Night-time temperatures will dip even more noticeably and frost may even be encountered in the mornings.
