Take note – story published 4 years ago

Fans of Legendary musician and multimedia innovator Brian Eno are in for a treat later this month when an exhibition of lights and sounds by the legendary British artist opens in Rīga.

From 30 October the Rīga art space in the city center will open an exhibition titled "77 million paintings" which uses an algorithm to generate never-repeating images.

Eno first rose to prominence as a maker of weird electronic sounds with British art rock pioneers Roxy Music in the early 1970s but since then has become an influential figure in a wide variety of disciplines including music production (most notably in collaboration with David Bowie), remixing, creative thinking and digital art as well as being regarded as the godfather of ambient music.

In the clip below you can see the great man talking about an earlier incarnation of the same show.

In Rīga, '77 million paintings' will run until November 30.

The Rīga art space website has yet to be updated with details of the forthcoming exhibition but does contain information about ticket prices and opening hours.
