Three for the Weekend: Summer Sound, Valmiera Theater, Pārdaugava Fest

Have an even stormier finish to the stormy week!

Summer Sound

On August 2 and 3, the Liepāja beach will host the "Summer Sound 2024" festival for the 12th time.

For more than a decade, Summer Sound has been one the most important and grandest festivals in the Baltic States.

On August 2 and 3, on four stages in Liepāja, you will have the opportunity to see German DJ Robin Schulz, French electronic duo Ofenbach, Finnish sensation Käärijä and many more local and foreign artists.

You can find out more on Summer Sound's website.

Valmiera Summer Theater Festival

From August 2 to 4, the annual theater festival takes place in Valmiera with premieres and original pieces in the urban environment.

Not only will traditional theater plays be on stage but also documentary stories, readings, concerts, alternative performances and more.

Some of the events are in English, partially in English or provide translation, so you might want to look into that.

The full festival program (with language info) is available on the festival's website.

Daugava Left Bank Festival

For those living on (or taking a liking to) the left bank of the Daugava in Rīga, also called Pārdaugava, a grand celebration will take place August 3 at the Uzvaras Park.

You will be able to partake in creative workshops, do some shopping, engage in physical activity, get to know the fresh look of the Uzvaras Park, participate in contemporary art performances and enjoy concerts.

The event is free and takes place at the Uzvaras Park (Uzvaras Boulevard 15, Rīga) from 12:00 to 23:00.
