Big contemporary dance performance in Āgenskalns Saturday

On Saturday, August 10, 32 dancers from 10 countries will unite in a large-scale dance performance "Face T(W)O" at Āgenskalns Market Square in Rīga, organizers said.

The performance combines contemporary dance and hip-hop, as well as dynamic scenography with large-scale projections, mirrors and moving, transformable platforms.

The show is free to attend.

The performance is the final stage of the People Power Partnership project, which is taking place in 11 European countries. In each country the form of the performance is the same, the content and the story are slightly different, as they have been co-created and collaborative, with a changing cast of dancers.

A total of 104 dancers from 16 countries participate in the project, but each performance has a different line-up and features 32 young artists.

The project focuses on the involvement of young people in contemporary art processes. The performance offers the audience the opportunity to experience it from different perspectives.

The set consists of huge mirror constructions, which, combined with video projections, create a transcendental and surreal time-space.

The leading partner of the Creative Europe Programme project "People Power Partnership" is the German organization "Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM" and the coordinators in Latvia are the foundation "Initium", supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Public Integration Foundation, the Department of Education, Culture and Sport of the Riga City Municipality, the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency, "Equilibrium Group".
