Take note – story published 1 year ago

For those who have not yet made plans for the Easter holiday, Rīga City Council has planned a varied program of events. Here are some of the whats, whens and wheres.

Open-air festivities at Lucavsala and Mežaparks

The largest Easter event is expected on April 9 at the Lucavsala recreation park. From 11:00 to 15:00 there will be activities for big and small – folklore performances, swinging, egg races, birdcage workshops, egg painting workshops, picnic, quizzes and the like.

Similar activities are planned at Mežaparks on April 9 from 14:00 to 17:00, and at the culture center Iļģuciems from 15:00 to 16:30.

Swinging

A Latvian saying promises that those who swing at Easter will not be eaten by mosquitos in the summer. Rīga will set up swingsets at 7 locations – Lucavsala, Doma Square, Līvu Square, culture center Ziemeļblāzma park, Mežaparks, and at culture centers Imanta and Iļģuciems.

Concerts and creative workshops

On April 7, at 16:00, the Small Guild (Amatu Street 5) will hold a chamber choir concert "In Paradisum". On the same day 19:00, at Rīga's St. John's Church, orchestra Rīga and chamber choir Ave Sol will perform. For this event, free tickets must be claimed at "Biļešu paradīze" ticket offices.

On April 8, an Easter concert with contra tenor Sergejs Jēgers and concert master Ieva Šmite will take place at 16:00 at the culture center Ziemeļblāzma.

On April 9, at 16:00, a folklore group concert takes place at the Mežaparks big stage, Kokaru Hall.

On April 10, several concerts are on the menu: a post-folklore band "Rikši" at the culture center Imanta at 14:00; chamber choir music concert at the culture center Iļģuciems at 17:00; chamber choir and piano concert at the concert hall Ave Sol at 18:00.

Rīga Porcelain Museum invites everyone to an Easter-themed creative workshop on April 7 and 8.
