Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations to take place in Rīga

On Saturday, August 24, the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia will host an event "United for Ukraine" in Vērmanes Garden, Rīga, dedicated to Ukraine's Independence Day.

The event will open with a festive concert featuring well-known local and Ukrainian artists.

The Ukrainian Independence Day event in Vērmanes Garden will start at 12.00 and last until 18.00. During the event, artists such as Andrejs Osokins, Aija Vītoliņa (Amber), Katrīna Gupalo and Edgars Vilcāns, Annika Ausmane, Elizabete Gaile, National Armed Forces Orchestra, National Armed Forces Staff Orchestra Ensemble, Marta Korneliusa, Ukrainian star Kostyantyn, Viktoria Pritulaka, Ukrainian ensemble "Mriya", and others. All artists will perform free of charge.

More than 20 public organizations founded by Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine in Latvia will be present at the event, offering a variety of activities - taste the nuances of the Ukrainian national dish borscht, try traditional Ukrainian pampushkas, make friendship bracelets, personalize a Ukrainian friend T-shirt, create jewelry and stamps, learn about Ukrainian literature and visual arts.

You will have the opportunity to learn how to virtually control drones in a special drone simulation training. You will also be able to take part in defense networking workshops and see cars modified for the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

Everyone is also welcome to bring to Vērmanes Garden items, food, or anything else that could be of practical help to Ukrainian soldiers and citizens. This help will be collected and delivered to Ukraine by the association "Tavi draugi".

In honor of Ukraine's Independence Day, from 21:30 until dawn on 25 August, the Freedom Monument will be illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
