Three for the Weekend: Holiday season begins

It seems that each year Christmas markets open a day or two earlier. Or maybe it's because there is no snow yet. Either way – event organizers have made sure that you start feeling the holiday spirit in November already.

As already reported, this Friday, November 29, the traditional Christmas Market will open in the heart of Riga - Doma Square - and will run daily until January 2, 2025, and with it, other activities will begin.

Winter Walk at Anna's Tree School

From November 29 to January 31, Anna's Tree School in Babīte – a tree grower, carer, and landscaper – will for the first time offer an enchanting winter walking trail with interactive challenges. During the holiday season, Anna's Tree School will be transformed into a fairytale land. It will be illuminated by thousands of small lights up the trees and shrubs.

On weekends, various activities will complement the adventure, as well as the opportunity to warm up with a warming drink and snacks.

Christmas Garden at Torņakalns

Each year, the Torņakalns Church (Torņakalna Street 5, Rīga) puts up a garden of lights "12 Holy Nights".

The area will include environmental and installation objects, creative workshops and other activities for families with children, bonfires, 12 illuminated reflection stands, a tree park, a photo corner, and more. On event days, a market will be open in the shelter and outdoors.

The opening takes place on the First Day of Advent, December 1, at 12:45. The territory will be open to visitors every day, December 1 to January 6, 9:00 to 22:00. Entrance and events are free.

You can view the event program on the congregation's website.
