The Eurimages European Cinema Support Fund has awarded Jānis Nords' upcoming feature film "Foam at the Mouth" with €150,000 in funding, reported LSM.

The shooting of the film, supported by the Latvian National Film Center and produced by Tasse Film, began February 2016, with the premiere expected sometime in 2017. It will star Vilis Daudziņš and Ieva Puķe as the protagonists

The film centers on a former policemen who, after suffering in a car crash, tries to start a dog training business while his marriage is on the verge of collapse.

His beloved dogs escape and start terrorizing locals, and he has to reconcile his differences with his wife to prevent the looming disaster. The story is based on Matthew Gossett's script "Origin Of A Species", adapted to Latvia.

The film is a co-production between Latvia, Poland, and Lithuania.

Nords' previous features - 2007's "Amateur" and especially 2013's "Mother, I Love You" - were well-received, and the latter was selected as the Latvian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards.
