Russia's heavily militarized Kaliningrad exclave may be at the center of tensions in the Baltic Sea area right now, but on a happier note, Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is participating in a new exhibition at a major Russian cultural event.

On Tuesday an exhibition called "Latvia's little castle of light" opened in Kaliningrad at the XXI All-Russia Congress of librarians.

The exhibition showcases the Latvian National Library, opened in 2014.

"The annual congress of librarians is considered one of the biggest cultural events in Russia," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release about the event, which runs from 15 to 20 May and involves 1,300 librarians from 64 regions of Russia.

At the end of the congress a delegation of Russian librarians will then travel to Latvia for a fact-finding trip from 20-22 May.
