The film was created in the Swedish study AVB Production and the Latvian studio Fenixfilm with the support of the National Film Centre, involving Latvian cinema professionals.
The film will take place in Kurdistan, Iraq, and its main hero is Imad, who has spent the beginning of his own life in the capture of the terrorist group ISIS. Imad and his mother are released, but the time spent in captivity on Imad's psyche has had a powerful effect. The film director Zahavi Sanjavi and his team follow Imad's fate for several years.
The Tempo Documentary Festival is one of the largest documentary festivals in Northern Europe, this year it took place for the 22nd time and, like many other film festivals during the pandemic, was organised online.
It is planned that the film “Imad's Childhood” will be seen on screens and streaming platforms in Latvia in autumn 2021.
