The annual Latvian Film Marathon on May 4 drew in viewers from 38 countries, said the National Film Center.

For the second year in a row, due to the constraints of the pandemic, the marathon was held on the portal filmas.lv, unlike 15 previous years, when it took place at the Riga cinema "Splendid Palace".

The event was adapted to the time zone of every country in the world and began at 11 AM local time.

Viewers came from 38 countries around the world - not as many as last year, when the marathon was viewed in 63 countries, but still a creditable number. Foreign viewers came mostly from Canada, the UK, and Germany.

The most watched film was the Latvian-Lithuanian co-production Dzimtene/Gimtine, whereas among the special events offered between the films, a chance to dance together with beloved film characters was appreciated (video here).
