Latvian opera singer Elīna Garanča to perform in October

The highly sought-after Latvian mezzo-soprano opera singer Elīna Garanča will hold solo chamber music concerts at Lielais Dzintars in Liepāja on October 10 and Gors in Rēzekne on October 13, according to Lielais Dzintars representatives on March 10.

Garančas stage partner for the Latvian concerts will be Scottish pianist Malcolm Martineau, who is renowned as one of the greatest accompanists in the world. He has accompanied such names as Anna Netrebko, Anne Sofie von Otter and Angela Gheorghiu. Martineau has performed with Garanča at London's Wigmore Hall, New York City's Carnegie Hall, Vienna's Wiener Musikverein and elsewhere.

The concerts will be the singer's debut at both Latvian venues.

As previously reported, the 2019 Excellence Award in Culture was awarded to opera singer Elīna Garanča for her artistic work in prestigious operas around the world and her solo concerts in cooperation with top European and global orchestras, as well as her significant role in Latvian music and culture.
