Latvia's Eurovision trials to be heard on Saturday

Fans of quiet understatement and emotional restraint will have to look the other way January 26 as that is the date upon which the first semi-final of Latvia's annual Eurovision selection show, Supernova, will be committed.

Eight acts will plead their cases for a free ticket to Tel Aviv in front of judges in the studio with their performances witnessed by the public at home, with four of the performers progressing to a final verdict at a subsequent date.

Speaking of judges, this year's inquisition will consist of radio presenter DJ Rudd, singers Linda Leen and Ralfs Eilands and radio executive, Artis Dvarionas. Below is a picture of the latter engaged in the sort of deep thought we can expect during the deliberations of the grand jury after they have seen and heard the evidence presented.

Supernova 2019 starts at 21:25 Rīga time on LTV1 and lasts at least two hours.
