Take note – story published 5 years ago

Latvia's National Encyclopedia has been unveiled online on December 18. It is available at http://enciklopedija.lv.

Currently, it has 727 entries on topics ranging from Latvian literature to physics and the palaeontology of invertebrates.

The encyclopedia features articles about specific topics written by industry experts. Each entry has a byline and every piece has been edited by a team led by Dr. hist. Valters Ščerbinskis.

Last time a similar encyclopedia was made more than thirty years ago when Latvia was still part of the Soviet Union.

While it is available only in Latvian, it is a trusted resource which can be useful even via a machine translation

A print volume mostly dedicated to the past 30 years of Latvian history was unveiled earlier. Work on the encyclopedia, which aims to consolidate knowledge about Latvia, started four years ago.
