Lights, camera, action for Latvia's Lielais Kristaps film festival and awards

November 7 saw the start of the annual Lielais Kristaps National Film Awards in Latvia. Coming hot on the heels of the Rīga International Film Festival, the Lielais Kristaps film festival will continue through November 12 with nominated film screenings, premieres, discussions, seminars and workshops for the whole family.

This year's National Film Awards will include 24 categories with the nominations for Best Full Feature Feature Film including the movies 1906NearbyJelgava '94Nothing Will Stop Us and Oleg

The prizes will be judged by a specially constituted international jury, represented by film professionals from Latvia, America, Canada and Lithuania.

In a separate section of the competition, the best student film will be judged by the winners of last year's awards: film directors Ināra Kolmane and Matīss Kaza and producer Ilona Bičevska.

The festival culminates in a prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday, November 12 which will be shown live on LTV.
