LTV talent show wants to see what you've got

Latvian Television (LTV) has announced the start of a large-scale participant selection process for a new talent show "Ko tu proti, Latvija?" (Literally "What can you do, Latvia?" but officially rendered as “Show your talents, Latvia!”) which will air next Spring.

Until November 11, everyone has the opportunity to showcase whatever they possess that makes others say "You should do that on TV!" at the dedicated website www.lsm.lv/kotuproti.

Can you sing? Can you dance? Can you balance an astonishing number of spoons on your head? This is your chance to prove it.

At the website you will find a form to fill (in Latvian, but it is pretty simple) and a chance to upload supporting images and videos proving you do actually have the claimed talent. The contest is open to both individuals and groups.

A total of 30 participants will start in five selection programs, six in each program. Talents will be judged by a jury and reduced to 10 participants competing in two semi-finals. From each semi-final, the jury will determine two finalists. Four participants will advance to the final, and the ultimate winner will be determined by public vote.

Whoever wins in the final will receive a first prize of 1,000 euros which the producers say will be "for the development of skills," though presumably there's nothing to stop you blowing it all on a party or upgrading the contents of your spoon drawer.
