Ministry invites you to discover Latvia with new guide

With the pandemic and travel restrictions, local tourism has picked up like never before. According to a survey, over 80% of residents visit sightseeing locations in Latvia at least once a year. In hopes of further improving the figures, Culture Ministry issued a guide 'The Discovered Latvia' on July 6, including over 60 cultural and natural heritage objects of Latvia.

Over seven years, the Ministry's project restored the objects included in the guide and recorded the changes.

The 400-page book is available here in Latvian and English.

Historian Gvido Straube said: "There are many pictures, it alone makes the book more interesting, people do like to see. There are facts, I leafed through it, I think, very interesting objects in Latvia, all over."

The objects are sorted in seven recommended routes. Each route has its own mascot or messenger, a Latvian public figure.

To further encourage travel, the organizers have also made a game competition with tasks, questions, and photo challenges.
