Take note – story published 1 year ago

The opening of the reconstructed Rīga circus arena will take place on Wednesday, Rīga Circus spokeswoman Zane Volkinšteine told LETA.

The event is expected to take place at 12:05 and will be inaugurated by Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance), and speeches will be given by the circus board member Māra Pāvula, architecture bureau NJRA representatives, and the construction company representative. A tour of the Riga circus building will follow after the speeches.

The first round of work has been carried out, the main task of which was to improve the energy performance of the building. Building integration in the urban environment has also been improved during the reconstruction process.

The project for the reconstruction of the circus building provides for further work in the future, including the improvement of the area and the construction of the circus school building. The reconstruction work of the facade is scheduled to be carried out in the next stages.

From mid-December, the arena will be ready to host viewers, but the development of the arena, which includes the installation of stands, light, and sound systems, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.

The project was carried out by the construction contractor Aidaco Group, and the construction supervisor CMB, and the design and supervision were carried out by the architects' office NRJA. The total first-round investment of the project amounts to approximately EUR 5.5 million.

A more detailed description of the reconstruction of the Rīga Circus is available at our earlier story.
