A selection of events for this weekend in Latvia.

Kontaktor electronic music festival

The Kontaktor electronic music festival brings together dozens of unique artists to industrial as well as very central locations in the Latvian capital Rīga through May 31 and June 1.

According to the organizers, the Kontaktor festival is "to bring together music and artists that we believe have unique, performative and at times playful contribution to the current environment of the electronic dance music scene that we feel is upon a shift in both the way we create and perceive. We present you music that can and should not only be listened or danced to but rather experienced and participated within to create an enjoyment of utopian adventure."

International street art in Rīga

Meanwhile a two-day festival of street art is to make the busy weekend even more busier. The festival brings more than 50 artists together, with 16 shows scheduled for June 1 and June 2. Held at the hip Tallinas kvartāls and Tu jau zini, kur (You know where) bar, it is sure to be a trip, and like the finer things in life it's all free.

Survival Kit festival of modern art

For the first time, the Survival Kit modern art festival is drawing art lovers to Rīga's left bank, called Pārdaugava. The abandoned Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the University of Latvia on Zeļļu street 25 serves as the festival and exhibition venue.

The festival is ongoing, with events held until June 30.
