Three for the Weekend: Moonshine, music, mastery

Take note – story published 5 years ago

Among this weekend's featured events is the moonshine museum, as well as a musical adventure and a chance for real learning.

Moonshine museum in Latgale

The Šmakovka (Moonshine) museum in Daugavpils, Latvia's second city located in the country's east, is offering reduced fees for entrance tickets on April 7. That may not sound like much, but we just wanted to remind you of the museum's existence – and it's always nice visiting Daugavpils.

It was also featured on our list of ten strangest museums in Latvia.

Meet your master

The "meet your master" initiative held April 5 to 7 this year features around 300 craft experts from across Latvia. This is your unique chance to learn folk dance, embroidery, weaving, ceramics, and folk instruments from the very people practicing the most traditional of Latvian arts.

While it may well be that these masters don't speak English, it's high time to try to speak some Latvian yourself.

Mr. Myster at Aleponija

While for some weird and psychedelic partying action, the musician Mr. Myster is performing at the hip Aleponija bar Saturday at 9 p.m.
