Three for the Weekend: museum marathon

This weekend, various traditional, annual May events are taking place after two years of being canceled or restricted. Culture events are still taking place in support of Ukraine, so this weekend, you can have fun and contribute to a good cause at the same time.

Riga marathon 

Over the weekend, May 14 to 15, the Rimi Rīga marathon is taking place. On Saturday, events for children and a mile-long run (1,609 meters) will take place, whereas on Sunday, the 6-kilometer, 10-kilometer run, half-marathon and marathon are taking place. Registration is over for the children's activities, the mile and 6 kilometers, but it is still open for the longer distances.

As reported, if you are not participating, you might want to avoid driving through Rīga as traffic will be limited. More information is available on the Rīga marathon website.

Museum night

The annual Museum Night is taking place the night from May 14 to 15. Around 200 cultural sites and establishments are taking part throughout Latvia, opening doors at night and organizing special events. A program and map of the locations is available on the museum night website. One of the most popular attractions is bound to be Rīga Castle, which will be open from 15:00.

Poetry for Ukraine

A group of Latvian poets have joined togther to organize poetry readings in support of Ukraine. All funds generated from the event will be donated to Ziedot.lv's Ukraine support campaign. The readings take place Saturday, May 14, 14:00 at the art center NOASS (AB dambis).
