Beginning of autumn is always full of cultural events to help you embrace the cold season. This weekend is no exception: enjoy!

Poetry Days 2020

September 4 to 13, the annual poetry festival "Dzejas dienas/Poetry Days" fills Latvia with various poetry-related events, including readings, walks, slams, performances, stand-ups and more. The first Poetry Days were celebrated on 11 September 1965 at Communard Park (now known as the Esplanāde) in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Latvian poet Rainis. Latvian Writers’ Union decided to organize a Poetry Days event every year, and so this tradition was born.

This year, the Poetry Days begins Friday, September 4, with readings and hip-hop performance at NOASS (AB Dambis 2, Rīga). Full program is available on Poetry Days website.

White Night 2020

The annual modern culture forum “White Night” will take place in Riga on  September 5, 2020,  for the 15th consecutive year. This year's program includes 20 events and projects that will represent a broad supply of contemporary culture – music, cinema and video, poetry, performances, etc.

All events can be found on the White Night website.

Survival Kit

The annual Contemporary Art Festival Survival Kit 11 will be held from September 4 to October 4, 2020, in Riga at the former building of the Museum of Literature and Music, Tērbatas Street 74. The eleventh edition of the festival is titled Being Safe is Scary. The exhibition aims for safety to be reconnected to practices of love, intimacy, sharing, commonality, mutual support, attention, care for each other and for the environment, and social alliances.
