Three for the Weekend: Researchers' Night, chamber music, Tallinas Square fair

This weekend in Latvia is a long-awaited one, since it will last for four days instead of two due to the Independence Restoration day on May 4, which will come with events such as the film marathon, folk costume parade and concerts. Meanwhile, here are some tips to enjoy before that comes.

Researchers' Night

The Researchers’ Night is an event dedicated to explaining and promoting of science achievements in Latvia, as well as allowing the general public to look into the secrets of scientific laboratories. The Researchers' Night is an initiative of the European Commission, which normally takes place in September.

However, this year, due to the pandemic and the event taking place online, it has been scheduled for Friday, April 30. All speeches, lectures and activities will take place from 18:00 to 23:00 on the platform zinatniekunakts2021.lv. The language of the event is Latvian.

Tallinas Square market

Fairs and street sales being allowed again in Latvia, Tallinas Street Square fair in the center of Rīga is back with local producers' foods, crafts, arts, clothing and decor.

The fair takes place Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00, Tallinas Street 10.

Chamber music concert

Vocal chamber music concert "Dans les yeux d'une française" will be livestreamed from Latvian National Library on Saturday, May 1, at 18:00. The program will include pieces of French composers Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Daniel Lesur.
