Three for the Yule weekend in Latvia

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Whichever way you would prefer to spend the holidays – snuggled up indoors or going somewhere to explore – there are plenty of options available. We already compiled a guide of Christmas-themed events in Rīga. Here are a few others which may not be directly related but are certainly in the spirit of light, good will, and peace.

Candle Forest

The Latvian National Botanical garden (Miera Street 1, Salaspils) states – if you're tired of neon and LED lights, you can experience a real candle-lit walk through the garden. The Candle Forest will be open on December 25 and 26, 16:00 to 21:00.

Garden of Light

Another place to walk through some lights and in the meantime experience Latvian solstice traditions is the Latvian Ethnographic Open-air Museum (Brīvības Drive 440). The 'Winter Garden of Light' will be open for visitors every evening except December 24 and 31, from 17:00 to 22:00, until January 3.

Festive Jazz evening

On December 23, 19:00, the Āgenskalns Market is hosting a jazz evening with Inese Bērziņā's quartet with Christmas and winter-themed pieces. Cafes and bars will also be open. More information about Āgenskalns market on its website.
