University radio showcases 100 Latvian albums

Take note – story published 7 years ago

Radio NABA, a student radio station, recently started showcasing the top 100 Latvian albums from the 60s up to the present day, with the Zibens pa Dibenu broadcast aiming to cover the landmark records by Latvia's founding centenary in 2018.

You are invited to listen in as most albums are available online alongside each broadcast. If not, each album review has at least a few songs each squeezed in between interviews with the artists.

So far senior music journalist Uldis Rudaks, who curates the program, has looked at five albums–"Zibens pa dibenu" by rock grands Pērkons, followed by The Satellites' Britpop-influenced "Piens", Dzelzs Vilks' alt-rock opus "Manās mājās sieviešu nav" as well as maestro Raimonds Pauls' self-titled 1972 record.

Most recently the fifth installation of the series was presented, the legendary–in Latvia–new wave album "Bolderājas dzelzceļš" by Dzeltenie Pastnieki.

Zibens pa dibenu airs Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Find the broadcast archive HERE
