What a time to go leaf-watching

Take note – story published 5 years ago

With record warm temperatures slated for the weekend and the fall in full color, there's seldom been a better time for leaf peeping.

There are many places to go over the weekend in Latvia, including in and outside the capital.

Traditionally, most people associate the fall with the Sigulda town, about an hour away from Rīga. This means it's likely to be crowded. People also go on bog trails, such as the Ķemeri bog trail near Rīga.

Zilie Kalni in the nearby Ogre town is also a nice destination. Those of you staying in the capital will profit from visiting the parks of Mežaparks, Dzegužkalns, Viesturdārzs or Ziedoņdārzs.

The left bank of River Daugava, specifically the Āgenskalns and Torņakalns districts are very nice for leaf peeping, with the dainty and thickly painted wooden architecture complementing the glorious color.
