When, where and how to buy tickets for Latvian Song and Dance Festival

Take note – story published 6 years ago

Tickets for the 2018 Latvian Song and Dance Festival, taking place June 30 to July 8, are to go on sale on March 3 at 11 a.m. Latvian time, organizers say.

A total 95,230 tickets will be sold.

People outside Latvia can get their passes at www.bilesuparadize.lv

Tickets cost from €2 to €65 and people will be able to buy up to eight seats in a single online session.

The €65 ones are for the best seats in the two special performances.

Usually tickets for the festival, held every five years, are in very high demand with people often not being able to obtain them, despite standing in line for hours and frantically monitoring the ticket sales website.

The venues for the 2018 festival will have greatly increased capacity, with the Daugava Stadium adding 5,000 seats and the Mežaparks open-air stage a further 8,000 to bring its capacity to a whopping 30,000.

Children up to the age of seven, if they'll be sharing a seat with their guardians, will be able to attend for free. Participants of the festival will likewise be allowed to enter the closing concert for free.

The 26th Song and Dance Festival coincides with Latvia's founding centenary, and it is expected to be a massive gathering that celebrates Latvia and its choral and dance tradition, with 63 separate events slated to take place.

The Song and Dance Festival has been held since 1873.

(The story has been updated: online, you can only purchase four tickets to a given event, and eight tickets in a single session. Sorry!)
