In the morning, the Presidents of Latvia and Estonia will make speeches at the Baltic Way Memorial at the border, there will be a carpet of flowers and musical performances, and in the evening the exhibition "Postcards from the Border Area" will be opened. This exhibition is dedicated to the people on both sides of the border, to the neighborhood, to strengthening these ties, and to the memories of the Baltic Way.
The exhibition "Postcards from the Border Area" includes 28 stories and photographic portraits of local people.
"The idea of the exhibition came about in connection with the status of the cultural pearl of the Baltic Sea region for Rūjiena because one of the goals we are trying to achieve with this title is to promote being neighbors, not only at the city level but also in the context of the Latvian-Estonian border population," Anna Paula Gruzdiņa, literary editor and interview author of the exhibition, says.
"The main visual symbol of the exhibition is the house, because we also went from house to house, the frames of the houses will be visible and these houses will be populated with portraits of the people we met, their stories," explains Anna Paula Gruzdiņa.
The exhibition "Postcards from the Border Area" will open at 18:00 at the Unguriņi border crossing point and will be on display until September 30.
