Enjoy the aesthetic of being poetic in Rīga this weekend

Take note – story published 5 years ago

There is no need to wander lonely as a cloud in Rīga this weekend, as poetry-lovers will be able to flock together and hear a strong line-up of modern verse on offer from some of the brightest poetic talents in Latvia and the United Kingdom.

For the third time, poets from the two nations have been attending a workshop in recent days to assess and sharpen up each others' verse, and Saturday 3 November will bring a chance to hear the results, courtesy of the poets themselves.

Participating in the event will be Elvīra Bloma, Raimonds Ķirķis, Ausma Perons, Tessa Berring, Patrick James Errington, Samuel Tongue, Roseanne Wat and LSM's own poet-in-residence Lauris Veips. The event will be moderated by Ryan Van Winkle.

Named "Dzeja un @dzeja" the event is run by Latvian Literature and takes place at the NicePlace bookshop on Barona street from 18:00 until 20:00, which also serves a range of poetic drinks (though no laudanum).

Full details are available at the Facebook event page.

And here's a reminder that we hosted our own mini poetry festival on LSM earlier this year.
