At a launch event, Sudden Lights donned clothes that were an approximate match for the ones worn by the Beatles for the cover of their famous Abbey Road album, though the clothes and the fact that there are four of them appear to be the limit of the similarities.
There will no doubt be numerous more Beatles references in coming days despite the somewhat thin links between the epochal musical and cultural innovations of the Fab Four and the derivative fare generally served up by Eurovision.
The group Sudden Lights with the song "Aijā" won Latvian Television's song contest "Supernova 2023" on February 11, getting the opportunity to represent Latvia in the 67th international Eurovision Song Contest. The group will perform in the first semi-final on May 9, where Norway, Malta, Serbia, Portugal, Ireland, Croatia, Switzerland, Israel, Moldova, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Finland will also participate. The second semi-final of Eurovision will be held on May 11, and the final on May 13.
Latvia hasn't made the final since 2016, so Sudden Lights will be hoping this year is a case of "I Feel Fine" rather than "Hello, Goodbye".
You can watch all the Eurovision performances on LTV.
The group "Sudden Lights" consists of Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis (vocals), Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis (guitar), Mārtiņš Matīss Zemītis (percussion instruments) and Kārlis Vārtiņš (bass guitar).
