In the square beside the iconic Freedom Monument, the National Guard Orchestra will perform a concert dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way and the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the National Guard.
The most popular songs of the 'awakening' period will be on the set list with talented and well-known national guard soloists Luīze Krasta, Gita Puikevica-Puikevska, Atis Ieviņš and Arvīds Keinis among the musicians.
“We invite concert-goers of all generations to join us in singing the well-known songs that have been an important driving force for our nation at important moments in history. Many of the musicians of the National Guard Orchestra were born during the Awakening or in already independent Latvia, and this is also a way to thank parents and grandparents for the unity and strength of the national spirit that they have shown for the nation and the country in important moments," said the Chief Conductor of the National Armed Forces and Major Andis Karelis.
