Latvia will be in first Eurovision semi-final

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Fans of the Eurovision Song Contest may like to note that it was confirmed January 25 that Latvia will participate in the first semi-final of the 2022 competition on May 10.

If Latvia's representative makes it to the final, the date for that will be May 14. However, that is a big 'if'. Last year's Latvian entrant, Samanta Tina failed to qualify for the Eurovision final, finishing last in her semi-final. Indeed Latvia has the unfortunate distinction of having finished last in the Eurovision semi-finals more than anyone else.

The last time Latvia made the final was way back in 2016 when singer Justs finished 15th. It's now 20 years since Marie N's "I wanna" won Eurovision for Latvia in 2002.

Latvia has yet to select the act it will send to Turin. That will be decided during the upcoming Supernova series of selection shows. Currently there are 17 acts in with a chance. Supernova will air on February 5 and February 12 to choose which one gets a ticket to Turin.
